Data Highlights
- Data was collected primarily from people with disabilities, people wanting a job, and seniors in livingston county
- There were 131 users of public transportation interviewed, five focus groups conducted, and personal interviews with 20 key informants in the county
Top Three Issues:
- People are unable to get to jobs and have lost job opportunities
- People are unable to get to doctor appointments, to the laundromat, and to the grocery store
- People are unable to get anywhere in the evenings and on the weekends
Top Improvement Suggestions:
- More individualized transportation options
- More accessible transportation
- Increase in public transportation hours
- More timely and responsive public transportation

The Arc of Livingston, working with Livingston Essential Transportation
Services and the transportation coalition, completed a 5-year strategic plan
for improving public transit in the county. The Michigan Land Use Institute
assisted in completing the process and developing the plan. Key steps
identified for the strategic plan are as follows:
