Getting Around

Having Fun

Arc believes opportunities to have fun and to get to know each other is vital to community life. Arc and a diverse set of community service organizations offer monthly dances. Transportation is also provided for these events. The Arc also hosts two membership dinner and dance events per year. Here we discuss what has been going on at the Arc and ways we can improve supports to our community. These gatherings are held in November and April. Arc also participates in Livingston’s County Buddy Walk to increase awareness and support people with Down’s Syndrome and their families. This event is held annually in October. We want to become involved in more fun events this year.

Dances

Dances are a great time listening to music and dancing. Food and location is donated with exception of the summer formal. The summer formal is a great way to honor the seniors of that year. Dances are a monthly event with theme dances during holidays, which add an extra amount of fun to the event. The summer Formal is $5 for all that attends and the general monthly dances are $5 for members and $2.50 for members of The Arc.

Scrap booking

Scrap booking is an event where you can put your favorite memories together and use your decorating talents. In the end you will have created a beautiful memory collage that you can call your own. This event meets monthly on Tuesday and it's free.

Card Club

The card club is a great time for all that love to play cards. The place and time changes depending on when and where the participants would like. It is a great way to hang out with friends and meet new ones.

Two other organizations in the Livingston county area that offer recreational opportunities are Special Olympics and St. Georges Special Ministries. They are primarily sports oriented. Special Ministries goes outside the realm of sports and also offers worship services, book clubs and other events. You can also check with your local community education centers for other recreation classes. Information for Special Olympics can be found at http://www.somi27.org. Information for Special Ministries can be found at http://www.stgeorgelutheranchurch.org.
